Course Overview
The aim of this full day session is to provide an insight into asbestos surveys, which are an essential part of an organisation’s asbestos management ‘toolkit’. In addition, we will detail what should happen after the survey has been received.
The first session of the training is designed to improve knowledge and awareness of the contents of an asbestos survey, the caveats that may be included and what the next steps look like.
As part of the training, delegates will be shown examples of an asbestos survey (they can also bring their own along to the training). This will help delegates to understand the contents of asbestos survey reports including:
- How to identify key requirements of survey planning and commissioning
- How to review asbestos sample findings and plans
- The impact that caveats, room descriptions, presumptions and inaccessible areas may have.
The second part of the training has been designed to provide an understanding of asbestos re-inspections and explains the two recognised algorithms (material and priority) and how these relate to overall risk as well as limitations.
This element of the training will clarify the importance of accurate reporting, suggest how to record items that are potential ACMs, provide an understanding of the processes which can impact ongoing asbestos management.
This course will be held at Calton Heritage and Learning Centre, 423 London Road, Glasgow, G40 1AG on 15th June 2027, from 9.30pm – 4.30pm (Lunch and refreshments included.)

Learning Outcomes
This training session is delivered in person, by our knowledgeable and professional trainer and is interactive; encouraging discussion and delegate participation to ensure skills learnt will be able to be confidently applied in practice; there will be ample time for delegates to ask questions throughout the session.
Delegates will broaden their knowledge and understanding of asbestos surveys as well as being able to interpret key aspects of the report and know what next steps need to be taken with information provided in the report as part of the organisations overall asbestos management programme. In addition, delegates will understand re-inspection requirements, how to carry out risk assessment and inspection and update the asbestos register.
Certification: An e-certificate of attendance will be provided for delegates.
