Course Overview
Asbestos remediation, such as encapsulation or removal, may be identified as being required following the undertaking of a survey by a competent surveyor, but how do you know who can undertake such works and whether they hold the correct licence?
The aim of this session is to improve knowledge and awareness of the asbestos remediation works and the documentation that should be maintained following such works.
As part of the training, delegates will learn about the different types of remediation works, when each type will be required, information relating to licenses required by those undertaking work and the associated plans of work and risk assessments. Record-keeping is a fundamental requirement to provide an audit trail of documentation which confirms that asbestos removal has been undertaken correctly and in accordance with legislative requirements; delegates will learn about the different requirements for record-keeping.
What’s Covered?
This three-hour session is relevant to organisations operating in the social housing sector and provides a basic overview of asbestos remediation works, the different types of work and who can carry out encapsulation and removal as well as the specific requirements to maintain certain records. The session includes a look at the following:
- What is asbestos ‘work’
- The difference between licensed and non-licensed works and what falls within the definitions of each– as well as what checks will be necessary to ascertain contractors’ ability to complete works.
- Risk assessments, job specifications and plans of work
- Control measures and use of the correct PPE/RPE
- Air tests and air monitoring – what are they and when are they required?
- Hazardous waste and the records required to be maintained
- Certificates of re-occupation
Learning Outcomes
This virtual training session is delivered ‘live’ by our knowledgeable and professional trainer and is interactive; encouraging discussion and delegate participation to ensure skills learnt will be able to be confidently applied in practice; there will be ample time for delegates to ask questions throughout the session.
Delegates will broaden their knowledge and understanding of works with asbestos, who can carry out such works and the documentation that is required to be collected following any asbestos remediation works.
The knowledge gained from this training will support compliance with legislative requirements for the appointment of appropriate specialist asbestos removal contractors and the specific requirement for the collection of waste documentation, certificates of re-occupation and other records.
Certification: An e-certificate of attendance will be provided for attendees.
