Chris Brown – Water Hygiene/Legionella Consultant & Trainer

We are delighted that Chris Brown is part of our associate consultancy team, with 30 years’ experience within the water treatment and water hygiene industry; he really is an expert in his field.

In the early days of his career, Chris spent ten years as a Technical Consultant in the Industrial Water Treatment market and in 1989 he formed Brocol Consultants Limited, which was acquired as an extremely successful business, by SSPLc (South Staffs Water).

From 2006 Chris was the Managing Director of IWS – Water Hygiene with £20m turnover and 400 staff.
Chris is a chemist by qualification and is Elected Fellow of the Water Management Society. He also served a four year term as an independent committee member of the Legionella Control Association (LCA) during the period of the re-write of L8 and the publication of HSG274 and was a Member of the LCA technical team established to contribute to HSG274 Part 1 (cooling systems).

Chris has had involvement in a number of Legionella cases, working with the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) providing expert advice and guidance and he is a contributor to Building Services Research and Information Association (BSRIA) Legionella Risk Assessment Guide and as part of the LCA technical team for HSG 274 Part 1.

Vicki has known Chris for a number of years, working with him at seminars and events to raise awareness of legionellosis and sharing his knowledge with others around the specific elements of water hygiene management.
