Highfield Awarding Body of Compliance (HABC) Level 2 Award in Legionella Awareness – Hot and Cold Water Systems (RQF) – 2nd March 2027 – Live online

Course Overview

This HABC accredited qualification has been designed to prepare delegates for understanding the health risks associated with legionella bacteria within hot and cold water systems and is aimed at individuals who work in environments where legionella growth is a risk.

It aims to raise awareness in how to prevent waterborne disease caused by legionella bacteria, however, our course looks specifically at the risks associated with hot and cold water systems with real examples from the social housing sector.

Assessment

This qualification is assessed by learner workbook which requires learners to provide a short response to prescribed questions within a workbook set by Highfield Qualifications. Successful learners will have to demonstrate knowledge and understanding across the breadth of the qualification syllabus.

This course will be held ‘Live Online’ on 2nd March 2027, from 9:30am – 5:00pm (times are estimates and will depend on the interaction of delegates throughout).

Price: £309 + VAT per delegate , £279 + VAT for members of the Social Housing Safety Network Scotland.

 

What’s Covered?

The course will guide delegates through the key aspects of legionella in hot and cold water systems providing a good awareness. Ideally suited for those operating in the social housing sector with ‘domestic’ stock in their portfolio, at the end of the session, through theoretical learning and interactive working, delegates will understand:

  • The health risks associated with legionella bacteria and specifically within hot and cold water systems
  • How to identify areas of concern with water systems
  • How legislation and codes of practice can support the management of legionella bacteria
  • How to control the risks of legionella bacteria in hot and cold-water systems
  • When and why monitoring schemes are needed
  • Consequences of not complying with relevant legislations and codes of practice.

 

Learning Outcomes

This training session is delivered ‘live’ by our knowledgeable and professional trainer and is interactive and encourages delegate participation to ensure skills learnt will be able to be confidently applied in practice; there will be ample time for delegates to ask questions throughout the session.

Delegates will gain information to widen their knowledge and understanding of the key requirements relating to legionella in hot and cost water systems and the training  aims to raise awareness of how to prevent waterborne disease caused by legionella bacteria, looking specifically at the risks associated with hot and cold water systems in ‘domestic’ type properties where social housing providers have a responsibility.

This Level 2 course provides the perfect introduction Level 3 Award in Legionella Control for Responsible Persons (RQF).

Certification:  Successful delegates will be awarded a Highfield Level 2 QCF certificate.
