Course Overview
This half-day information filled training session is aimed at colleagues operating within the social housing sector at any level, including customer contact staff, maintenance and property colleagues and anyone who requires a good level of non-technical awareness training.
Covering all aspects including landlord obligations in respect of electrical safety, particularly in domestic premises, the most up-to-date Regulations and Standards including smoke and heat detection systems, along with an overview of common issues in electrical safety, this session provides sufficient information to give colleagues the confidence to identify and act upon situations that may arise as part of the electrical testing programme.
The session will also cover the key aspects that colleagues should be checking when they receive documentation and records from their electrical contractors, including EICR’s, EIC’s and MEIWC’s.
This course will be held ‘Live Online’ on 10th November 2026 starting at 9.30am and finishing at 1.00pm.

This training session provides all of the information to enable you to get a good level of non-technical awareness training, delivered by our electrical specialist associate; it provides:
- Stats – why electrical safety is important – deaths, injuries and fires
- Legislation and social landlord obligations and responsibilities, including for Scotland
- Approved codes of practice and guidance that set out testing requirements
- Professional body memberships – who’s who and what does it all mean?
- A look at the different electrical records (EICR, EIC, MEIWC) and what their purpose is
- An overview of the sections contained within the EICR from a non-technical perspective to be able to confidently interpret the content of such documents
- Observation codes (C1, C2, FI and C3) – what do they mean and what should I be doing when I see one on an EICR?
- The importance of recommending appropriate action when a fault is identified and the timescale recommendations for doing so
- What to check when you receive completed records from your contractor

Learning Outcomes
This virtual training session is delivered ‘live’ by our knowledgeable and professional electrical specialist associate and trainer; it is interactive, encouraging delegate participation, to ensure skills learnt will be able to be confidently applied in practice. There will be ample time for delegates to ask questions throughout the session.
Learners will leave the session with a good non-technical awareness of relevant regulations, legislative responsibilities and a raft of other useful information to equip them in their day to day role when managing an electrical programme and the associated record keeping.
Certification: An e-certificate of attendance and emailed copy of the slide presentation in a handy note format will be provided for all delegates who attended the session.
